Flight 93

Flight 93 happened in Shanksville, PA.  This is the flight that went down in the middle of PA in the attacks of 9/11.  This is basically the story.....read the signs, I tried to get close so we could read the events.
In this picture, the plane had crashed, dived into the ground, in the middle of this HUGE field.  It was at least 40 ft. deep.  It was soooo tragic and there was such a reverent feeling on the grounds of the memorial.
This is the black box that was on the jet in the crash.  It is reported that this was the plane that was headed for the White House in Washington D.C.  Where the plane crashed, it was only 20 minutes(flight time) away from the Capitol.  What a heroic thing to do, these 40 people called loved ones on the phones that were in the back of the chairs on the plane, to say their good byes to their families.  I cannot even imagine the feeling and emotions they were going through!  It was very serial to be here.  This memorial was all outside, and it was so quiet and sacred.  The kids even felt it......

This is the amazing 40 people that sacrificed their lives for others.

This was a piece of the plane that they found.  It's was the largest piece that was recovered.  It was a mere 6 ft. by 7 ft. big.
Just over this hill, is where it actually crashed.  They had it chained off because of all the snow.
At the end of this long, long walkway there is this beautiful memorial dedicated to the 40 people.  Each of these tall slabs of white marble has each person's name engraved on it.  It was just so beautifully done.  It's only been finished for about a year now.

This is the other side of the field where the plane crashed.  It literally was in the middle of no where!  No other homes, businesses, or people were wounded.  It was so selfless of these 40 people.
