Caitlin in the subway......and then "there's Tommy!" What a nut!!
CHINA TOWN!
We ate Chinese in China Town. It was the very best we have ever had! Tommy even liked it! If it had shrimp it was good for that kid! The kids even tried and tried to eat with chopsticks! They got it!! Me, I stuck to the fork or we would be there all night! hahahahaha! ( the steam in front of Tommy is from the dumplings they had just brought out to us.)
Here is another one of those parking garages....you pay $20 for a half an hour! Then you park on a place that is on the ground and then they rotate it so another car can park.. It is so crazy to watch it in action!! And we couldn't believe there was a VW Bus, just like the one Mike wants to have some day, in the heart of New York City!! So, of course, we had to take a picture. :)
The subway, heading for Central Park. (Mike making sure we are heading the right direction, thank you Mr. Snow!) I forgot to mention earlier, we road a taxi to Lincoln Center, that is where the Manhattan temple is. The kids and I crammed in the back seat and Mike sat in the front. Those 3 munchkins of ours loved every second of it! Tommy really, really wanted to ride one. It was the best 4 blocks he ever experienced!! There was even a TV in the seat to watch the local news. Another fabulous memory!! Pretty priceless......
Central Park is so relaxing and so HUGE! So, we first started at their zoo. It was small but really fun!
Sea Lions
Snow Leopard
Red Panda
Below, Snow Monkey, they like to be around water. Tommy says to add this..."Their bums get red when they are ready to get married".
Green Wing Macaw and a Blue and Gold Macaw.
The little birds in these trees, above, were busy making nests. We just stood there and watched them fly very quickly to get small twigs and "stuff" for their nests. It was amazing!
Flamingos up in the trees
Violet Crowned Pigeons
The clock in Central Park right by the zoo. It is just like the one in the movie Madagascar!
You look around the park and see the city through the trees, but I bet when they are bloomed and full of leaves, you wouldn't be able to see the city very well. It is literally right in the middle and surrounded by building. We totally understand why people come here to relax and slow down for a bit. It is so pretty and a nice escape for the rush and all the cars.
So, we were walking along in the park and there was this huge crowd watching these guys perform and dance....The guy below actually jumped over 5 people! He is the one on the right with black shoes in the air. It was crazy to watch! Below there is a video of them dancing too! They were really good break dancers! We liked watching them, they were very entertaining too.
Here is "Strawberry Fields" from the Beatles's Song....and the police in the park are mounted on horses, the kids loved that!
